So you’re thinking, “Look at all the hardships of my life, and all this bad news happening all over the world.” You turn on the T.V. attempting to be placed into a state of enjoyment. Then you find yourself going through the thousands of channels, asking yourself, “Why am I paying for all this service, when there is nothing ‘good’ on that entertains me?” Are you going to cancel it? Nope, your mind forbids; you negotiate with yourself hearing, “just keep channel surfing, something is going to intrigue you. Either way, what else are you going to do?” You have exhausted everything else that once made you happy, and your mind longs for the days of your childhood. You remember:
It was when you didn’t have a care, because your needs were taken care of by your parent(s). Suddenly you grew up, and you were forced to take care of yourself, kicking and screaming inside all along the way. You were told to grow up, and take responsibility for your own life, or you saw a future without them in it. You realized that the actions of your parent’s would no longer be able to be counted on to keep you secure. You would have to do live life on your own.
You see, your parent(s) realized that they could not keep you protected for all of your life. They realized that, as they grew older, they would not be around forever, and that you would have to, one day, take care of yourself without their protection and guidance.
For some people, their family realized this early on, and took steps to ensure that you would not be “left out in the cold” once they departed. These are those people, when older, feel as if they never even had a childhood.
For some people, their family ignored that thought, thinking that they could protect their family forever, shielding them from all elements of society. These are those people, when older, feel as if they were never raised to be an adult.
For some people, their family seemed to be in utter chaos, caught between seeing their family struggle, and never wanting to let that happen to their own children.
And I could go on and on, until possibly, you could identify with one scenario or the other, but what everyone realizes, at some point in their life, is that one day, it is all going to come down to only you, and your actions, through all your experiences, that defines who you are.
Reading this gives you a chance to realize that who you were, doesn’t have to be who you are going to be. You can change. You can recognize your past(living in sin), overcome it(through Christ), and be a new person(for God). So turn off the T.V., and turn onto the Bible. It’s the only place where you’ll read any “good news” today.
The “good news” is that Christ did something for you that will guarantee that you can, one day, feel that security that you felt as a child, by the love of your Heavenly Father.
